YogaPupz have a brand new 6 week term of kids yoga starting on Tuesday 4th October – each week will see a new adventure using yoga poses and incorporating breathing and mindfulness.
Week 1: Squish the fish adventure
Week 2: Star Wars adventure
Week 3: Frozen adventure
Week 4: Jungle Book adventure
Week 5: Lulu the Lion cub adventure
Week 6: Adventure made up by kids
A lot of children can feel stressed or anxious by change or pressures at school or home and of course puberty & hormone changes.
Kids yoga gives them a physical, mental and emotional outlet to release that pent up stress! Without the competition and fear of feeling inferior to anybody else – everything is encouraged to be done to their own abilities and with regular practise they will see improvements and progression.
In our yoga classes we consistently emphasize on the positives in life and good feelings to help bring in a more positive outlook and lasting uplifting impression on the brain – we talk about our yoga adventure and discuss how it can help us in our everyday lives e.g. being brave.
I feel that kids yoga is much about the emotional development not just the physical development, that is why we always try to talk about and explore our feelings during and at the end of our sessions.
Kids yoga can provide benefits for:
Flexibility and Balance
As well as stories, adventures and yoga we also like to include some form of mindful activity into the sessions, these help focus the kids and encourage them to concentrate and be creative.

Yoga poses for Kids and Parents – Yoga is great for kids, but it’s even better when parents get involved with them too – make it a daily or weekly thing and turn it into special time with your child.
These are 24 really simple (not all easy) yoga poses for kids and parents that you can do at home, all you need is enough space to lie down on a mat for 15 minutes – I guarantee you will both love it & it will really increase your bonding as kids love to be involved in what you are doing.
If you find that your child really enjoys yoga why not bring them along to one of our yoga adventures, where we use yoga poses to work through a story and then have a short relaxation period at the end. As yoga is non-competitive you can practise without the fear of doing something wrong or not being better than somebody else, we always focus on what you can and how we can progress your ability further.
If you chose to practise yoga with your child then you will find that their concentration levels will increase with regular practise and they will get physically stronger too – but yoga isn’t just about the physical benefits, you may notice other benefits in your child too – here are list of some of the benefits that you may notice in your child:
Calmer and more relaxed
Deeper bonding with your child – working together and being involved in each others practise will deepen the bond between you, once you have both mastered a pose you will feel empowered together
Ability to cope with stressful situations easier – mindfulness and relaxation which is built into the foundations of every yoga practice
Increased focus and concentration – yoga encourages you to clear your mind and focus on the effort of the positions and poses
A boost in their confidence and self-esteem – when a child masters a pose it give them confidence and self-esteem
Increased flexibility – making your child aware of their body and how it functions
NOTE: Yoga also provides tools for practicing compassion, mindfulness, generosity, focus, strength, and flexibility.
You may notice how yoga benefits your child but you should also encourage your child to notice too, all of the children who have been to my class absolutely loved it, they also enjoyed showing their parents the new yoga moves they’ve learnt in class once they get home 🙌🏻
Get your kids active in a non competitive way and they will thank you for it in the long term.
